Description
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Empathise with the psychological impact of hearing loss, tinnitus and hyperacusis on musicians
- Analyse the acoustic properties of music vs speech
- Compare and contrast various instruments with regards to how they are heard, played and placed in a band/orchestra
- Discuss test results in relation to music as well as speech
- Apply adaptations to standard test methods, and consider other test options when assessing the hearing loss of musicians
- Identify what adjustments and settings may be more or less appropriate for musicians to assist with fine-tuning/troubleshooting
- Recognise when to refer on or consider alternative hearing aid or device options for the client
- Evaluate the limitations of audio equipment & hearing preservation methods in a musical setting
- Reflect on the areas of consent, documentation and further ear care management for musicians
Prerequisites
Delegates must be working in the field of Audiology as a Registered Audiologist.
